Jim E. Montgomery, M.D. Medical Director, Ophthalmologist, is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who has practiced refractive eye surgery in Denver since 2001. While being involved in a local area center as the Chief Refractive Surgeon, he received the honor of first in the category of “Best LASIK/Laser Center/LASIK Eye Surgeon” in the Boulder Camera’s Best of Boulder County for three consecutive years.
Dr. Montgomery has been with the 20/20 Institute in Denver since 2005. He is proud to have an association with the 20/20 Institute because of a common commitment to the quality of patient care, state-of-the-art technology, and the total patient experience.
Dr. Montgomery is currently the primary eye surgeon at the Denver 20/20 Institute. He has performed over 30,000 laser eye surgery correction procedures. Dr. Montgomery is credentialed at the highest level on multiple laser platforms. He performs other refractive procedures including Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and Visian ICL lens implants. Dr. Montgomery understands the depth of the personal choice in having laser vision correction because he has had the procedure as well.
Dr. Montgomery graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1992. Following an internship in Internal Medicine at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Zale Hospital, and Parkland Hospital in 1996. Dr. Montgomery became Board Certified in 1998 and has recently completed his twenty-year recertification with an emphasis on refractive surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and maintains membership in the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
