Allegretto Wave Eye-Q Laser
The Allegretto Wave Eye-Q Laser is the newest and fastest excimer laser currently FDA-approved for LASIK in the U.S. One thing that makes the Allegretto stand apart from other lasers is that is was built on Custom LASIK technology. Many of the other lasers on the market have been upgraded from older technology with varying degrees of success. Currently the laser is FDA-approved to treat myopia without astigmatism to -6D and with astigmatism up to -12D. It also is approved to treat farsightedness, with or without astigmatism.
During clinical trials 60% of participants saw 20/16 after their procedure and 87% were 20/20 or better at one year. 98% of all participants were 20/40 or better (20/40 vision is required to pass a driver's license test). Keep in mind that results will vary for each individual patient.
Some of the features of this amazing laser include:
Wavefront Optimization - all procedures performed on this machine are fully custom treatments - created and developed specifically for the abnormalities of your eyes. This technology not only corrects your prescription but can also enhance how well you see in terms of clarity and protection of your night vision.
Perfect Pulse technology - Every pulse has a controlled and accurate shape, producing better results than some other lasers.
Active Eye Tracker - every 4-6 milliseconds, the eye tracker measures where the eye is (before each pulse of energy is released). If the eye has moved, the laser pauses until the eye is in the perfect position to receive treatment again.
All of this technical jargon is greatly simplified for the purposes of understanding the basic function of the laser itself and its amazing technology (and what it can do for your future vision!). If you want more information on the laser itself, you can ask our staff members for literature or go directly to the website of the manufacturer. Please call or email us today to schedule a free evaluation to find out if you're a candidate for the life-changing benefits of laser vision correction at the 20/20 Institute.
