Pentacam

The Pentacam, a 3-D rotating camera, allows us to measure all surfaces of the cornea.  This enables us to provide the best custom treatment to achieve visual freedom for you.  The Pentacam can map the cornea with great accuracy, helping us diagnose vision problems so we can design a custom treatment plan just for you.

CustomVue Technology

The CustomVue System, manufactured by AMO-VISX, is the result of years of excellent research and development in laser vision correction.  The CustomVue System consists of the Star S4-IR Excimer Laser System and the WaveScan Wavefront System. It diagnoses the eye's refractive condition, creates a 3-D map of the cornea, and guides the laser in correcting refractive conditions.
The WaveScan part of the system creates a detailed map of the eye, 25 times more precise than previously possible. This allows treatments to be customized for each patient, so that each is unique. Then WaveScan transfers this information digitally to the laser, which then uses it to treat the eye, so the system is also known as Wavefront Guided LASIK.

More than ten million procedures have been performed using VISX lasers.

Bladeless LASIK

As part of our commitment to the highest level of vision care, we have added a new LASIK process that uses only lasers to work on the eye—no blades on the surface of your eye.  The procedure, known as IntraLase LASIK, has already been used on nearly one million patients, with no serious complications—an even better level of safety than LASIK procedures with blades.  This procedure allows us to perform LASIK on even more patients than ever before, has increased comfort, and a shorter healing period.  This is clearly the new standard in vision correction.

 

Beyond Glasses and Contact Lenses

Remember your experience at the eye doctor?  “A” or “B”?  Instead of guesswork, the Wavefront system precisely measures the eye.  While any given glasses or contact prescription is used by thousands, perhaps millions of people, it is unlikely that any of them receive vision correction even close to what can be given by the CustomVue System.
Nobody but you will have the exact LASIK treatment using CustomVue, because nobody but you has your eyes.  The CustomVue diagnosis of your eye's refractive nature, and your treatment based on that diagnosis, are both so amazingly precise, that they give a one-of-a-kind surgery, allowing you to achieve the complete potential of your personal vision.

Clinical Study Results

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stringent requirements for clinical studies before it approves any technology or medical device. VISX has completed all the studies and research required by the FDA, and with astounding results.

For example:
One year after the CustomVue procedure:

• 100% of the study participants were able to pass a driving test without glasses or contacts
• 98% of them had 20/20 vision or better without wearing glasses or contacts
• 70% could see at 20/16 or better without wearing glasses or contacts. In other words, they had vision better than “normal.”

Although it occurs rarely, night vision impairment is a possible side effect of LASIK vision correction surgery. However, the VISX studies found that four times as many participants were very satisfied with their night vision after having a CustomVue procedure than they were with their previous night vision with glasses or contacts.
