Pentacam

The first step in your custom vision correction treatment plan is to take precise and accurate measurements of your eye. We use a Pentacam, a 3-D rotating camera to measure all surfaces of your cornea. It will map your cornea with exceptional accuracy and help us diagnose your vision problems and design a custom treatment plan just for you.

CustomVue Technology

AMO-VISX, the manufacture of the CustomVue System, has invested heavily in laser vision correction research and development for many years. The AMO-VISX CustomVue technology includes the Star S4-IR Excimer Laser System and the WaveScan Wavefront System. The CustomVue System diagnoses your eye's refractive condition, creates a 3-D map of your eye, and guides the laser in correcting your vision.

The CustomVue system creates a detailed map of your eye, like a unique fingerprint, that is twenty-five times more precise and accurate than was possible with earlier technology. The accuracy and precision of this map of your eye allows us to provide you with a customized vision correction treatment that is unique to you. The WaveScan part of the system that gathers this information transfers it digitally to the laser, which then uses it to treat your eye. This is why the system is also known as Wavefront Guided LASIK.

Beyond Glasses and Contact Lenses

Glasses or contact lenses do not have the precision of the Wavefront map of your eye. Thousands of people use the exact same prescription for glasses or contact lenses.

One year after the CustomVue procedure:

100% of the study participants could pass a driving test without glasses or contacts

98% had 20/20 vision or better without glasses or contact lenses

70% could see at 20/16 or better without glasses or contacts. That's vision even better than what is considered "normal".

Night vision impairment is one of the possible side effects of LASIK surgery, although it occurs rarely. The VISX studies found that four times as many participants were very satisfied with their night vision after having a CustomVue procedure, compared with their previous night vision, with glasses or contacts.
