Mark I. Golden, M.D. F.A.C.S., F.I.C.S.

Dr. Golden received his BA from the University of Chicago in 1977 and received the first-ever pre-doctoral Master’s Degree in Ophthalmology awarded by that institution. His doctorate degree was awarded at Saint Louis University in 1984.  He continued his training in St. Louis with internship and residency.

In 1988 he joined Eye Surgeons and Consultants, with offices in Chicago and Southern Wisconsin, specializing in small incision cataract surgery and treatment of diabetic retinopathy.  In 1991 he became interested in refractive surgery and took the first course on the then new ALK machine followed by a fellowship in Houston.  This technique was the precursor of LASIK He has taught and proctored ophthalmologists in the technique of LASIK, nationally and internationally.  He has lectured at Ophthalmology and Optometry meeting such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, State of Washington Optometric Association, and the State of Wisconsin Optometric Association.  He is a frequent teacher of local eye doctors, having given continuing education courses for many years.

Honors include board certification in Ophthalmology, Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons, The International College of Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  Dr. Golden also holds the role as director of the Division of Ophthalmology for the International College of Surgeons and is a Vice President of that organization.  He has been the medical and surgical director of several laser centers. 

LASIK surgeon Dr. Golden has restricted his practice to refractive surgery.  He is experienced in the placement of Intacs (Intracorneal ring) for the correction of low amounts of nearsightedness.  He has performed more than eighteen thousand refractive procedures.  He is frequently asked by eye doctors to perform their laser eye procedures.

He is married, with a young son.  He enjoys cooking, travel, scuba diving and finding new and exotic restaurants.

Peter G Weber, OD, FAAO

Peter Weber was born and raised in Smyrna, Delaware.  Prior to becoming Dr Weber, Pete attended the United States Air Force Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Following graduation from the Academy, Pete served as an Instructor Pilot at Vance Air Force Base, where he logged almost 1,500 jet flying hours in 5 years.

After Desert Storm, the USAF was allowing a few select pilots to train in other fields, and Pete seized the opportunity to attend optometry school.  He graduated with clinical honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, and was immediately charged with the duty of Clinic Chief at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota.  There, Pete was instrumental in the early phases of USAF Refractive Surgery, designing one of the most aggressive pilot screening protocols in the Air Force.

His clinical expertise on refractive surgery co-management and extensive flight background have afforded him the honor of speaking to professional and paraprofessional optometric groups nationally.  Dr. Weber brings his expert skills, calm and comforting demeanor, and genuine love of patient care to the 20/20 team as its first Regional Clinical Director.
